Royal Arts has classes for adults, teenagers, and children. We also offer open bouting to our members and to other fencers in our community. Our rates are shown below. Our classes are held in New Albany at the Columbus Jewish Day School (CJDS), and at the New Albany Country Club (NACC members only). See below for directions. We also enjoy working with area schools, and have offered classes in the New Albany Schools, Columbus Academy and Bexley recreation center. The following is our schedule for group instruction and open bouting. We offer classes for Kids (11 and under), Teens (12 and over), and Adults. New students who have never fenced are welcome. A limited amount of club equipment is available so students need to purchase their equipment after the Introduction session. We also offer classes to young children (5-7 yeas old) using plastic equipment provided by the club.
ATTENTION FENCERS: You have to be registered for classes to be able to attend.For classes that held at CJDS you may register during any of scheduled classes. For classes that offered at different locations registration held through the administration offices of listed facilities.

Open Bouting
Open bouting allows you to develop your skills by fencing against other fencers. We offer open bouting on Saturdays (please see tournament page for dates) in the gymasium at the Columubus Jewish Day School . We strongly encourage all of our fencers to attend all open bouting practice. We also welcome non-member fencers to join us! More the merrier! We charge a $10 floor fee for non-members and visitors. 3 scoring machines are available. Bouts are self-directed. We have room for approximately six simultaneous bouts. Julia will also be teaching private lessons during this time.
Fencer must be registered for particular class in order to attend.
New to fencing? Our Introduction
Class meets for 50 minutes once a week. There are two different introduction
class times available during each
week. New introduction session starts every two weeks.
• Introduction Class: $72/six class session. Equipment provided.
5-7 YEARS OLD FENCERS:
Royal Arts Fencing Academy offers one class per week for the most young fencers. They fence with a plastic foils and class goes only for 30 minuts. This 6 class-session held every Thursday from 3:30pm to 4:00pm at the Columbus Jewish Day School Gym. Cost is $60 /per session (equipment provided). No Membership is required for this class.
Royal Arts Fencing Academy (RAFA) offers classes and private lessons for Members and Non-members of our club.
Members
Members have benefit to redeem packages at their own pace. We
charge a quarterly rate for membership that must
be kept current to redeem packages.
When first join the club Membership
also includes USFA membership and annual issue of “American Fencing” magazine
for one year.
RAFA(Royal Arts Fencing Academy) Membership is:
$150 per quarter for a single fencer
$270 for family of two
$340 for family of three
Membership fees due on the first day of September, December, March and
June. Membership is required to attend classes and lessons, receive discounts.
(No membership is required for an Introduction class)
Classes
Classes concentrate on conditioning and developing basic skills necessary to
be successful in the sport of fencing. Classes are 60 min. for 1st level and
90 minutes for 2nd level of fencing and can be purchased individually or in
money-saving packages. Packages available for Members of the club only:
• 9 Classes: $65
• 12 Classes: $80
• 24 Classes: $150
Packages for classes and lessons must be prepaid and can be purchased at any
time during club hours. Membership fees and class packages are non-refundable.
Private Lessons
Lessons are available with our coaches, Julia Richey (foil) and Sergey Danilov
(epee & foil). Basic skills learned from classes are the precursor to private
lessons. Emphasis is given
to specific techniques and skills that
will develop the individual into an effective fencer. With our international
coaching staff, Julia and Sergey have proven the effectiveness of their
results-driven coaching. Available for Youth and Adult levels, lessons may
be purchased individually
or in packages.
Lessons: in 15 minute increments.
• 1 Lesson: $15
• 5 Lessons: $70
• 10 Lessons: $135
Lessons: in 20 minute increments.
• 1 Lesson: $20
• 5 Lessons: $95
• 10 Lessons: $180
Lessons: in 60 minute increments.
• 1 Lesson: $50
Private lessons policy
Private lesson can be scheduled through your
coach only. Fencer must be warmed up and be dressed accordinly
at the scheduled time. We have 24 hours cancellation policy. Fencer must
pay in full for the lesson that he/she cancelled in less then 24 hours
before scheduled time. Competitive members of the Club have priority for
booking private lesson time.
Combining classes and lessons are the most effective way in becoming
a skilled fencer, balancing conditioning and personal development.
Non-Members
One class: $30
One Private lesson: (60 minutes): $60

Visitor may attend group class only once a quarter. For more than that you must pay a non-member rate or become a member and follow payment schedule of our club.

Jewish Day School The building is facing the Rt.605 and
has the same intrance as the New Albany Elementary School. Parking
is on the north side of the building and is visible from High Street
(aka
Rt.
605). Enter into gymn at the
side door off the parking lot. The front door to the building will
be locked. Has changing rooms but no showers or lockers. |
