1. Teams consist of two categories of fencers representing all three weapons, namely
Category A Sabre, Category A Epee, Category A Foil,
Category B Sabre, Category B Epee, Category B Foil.
For example, in our Arnold Fencing Classic, Catgory A is Women and Category B is Men, giving three women and three men per team.

2. Each match consists of six bouts where corresponding member of opposing teams fence in the following order:
Category A Sabre vs. Category A Sabre
Category B Sabre vs. Category B Sabre
Category A Epee vs. Category A Epee
Category B Epee vs. Category B Epee
Category A Foil vs. Category A Foil
Category B Foil vs. Category B Foil.
For example, for the Arnold Fencing Classic, it would be:
      Women's Sabre vs. Women's Sabre
      Men's Sabre vs. Men's Sabre
      Women's Epee vs. Women's Epee
      Men's Epee vs. Men's Epee
      Women's Foil vs. Women's Foil
      Men's Foil vs. Men's Foil

3. Each bout has a total elapsed time of four minutes. The clock does not stop during the bout. Each time there is a break in the action (point scored, off target light, etc.) the fencers have 15 seconds to return to On Guard. With the exception of injury or emergency, if a fencer takes longer than 15 seconds to return to On Guard, the Director shall penalize that fencer with a Group 1 card for each 15 seconds that fencer fails to return to On Guard. For example, if a weapon is broken, that fencer shall have 15 seconds to switch to another weapon before receiving a card. In the event that both fencers take longer than 15 seconds to return to On Guard (for example, an argument), then each shall receive a card.

4. In the event that both fencers refuse to fence for longer than 15 seconds, they will both receive a Group 1 card. Upon the second infraction where both refuse to fence for longer than 15 seconds, they will both receive a second card. Upon the third infraction, the director will halt the bout, remove those fencers from the strip, and begin the next bout. In the event that the score is tied and the director has removed the final fencers of the match, the director will randomly choose a winner.

5. Points are scored using the traditional targets and off targets for each weapon. Points scored by each member on the team will be added to the team's total points. The team with the highest total points wins the match.

6. If a match ends with a tie during normal time, the director shall randomly assign priority to one team or the other. The Category B foil fencers will then fence for up to one minute where the first touch wins the match. In the event that no touch is scored within that minute, the team with priority wins the match.

7. If a fencer is unable to continue, the team is allowed to replace that fencer with another fencer of the same category. In the event the fencer cannot be replaced, that team forfeits the match. (Note that another fencer on that same team may replace that fencer, per Rule 8, below.)

8. Fencers may fence more than one weapon in each category, ie., the same fencer may fence Category A Sabre, Category A Epee, and Category A Foil. Thus, the minimum possible number of fencers per team is 2.

9. The director shall announce the start time for each match. In the event that a team does not appear within 5 minutes of the announcement, the opposing team receives a victory and that match is counted as over. If neither team appears, the director shall randomly choose a winner.

10. Prior to each match, teams shall line up with corresponding fencers opposite each other and greet their opponents verbally using an appropriate good sportsman greeting, ie., "Hi", "Good luck." etc. If the match is before an audience, the director may introduce each fencer to the audience.

11. At the conclusion of each match, teams shall line up with corresponding fencers opposite each other, listen to the final results, and shake hands with their opponent and the director.

12. When not in contradiction to the rules above, the current rules as published by the USFA shall govern.
