Royal Arts Open/Youth

Congratulation to Tyler Birch (DFSC) and Robert Hess (Royal Arts)

winners of Foil Y14 and Y10 respectivly!

Foil Y14 was held with a handicap where fencers Y10 were starting their bouts with 2 points in if they fenced against Y12 fencer and 4 points in if they fenced against Y14 fencer. This system allowed us to have Y14 event bigger and keep tention for the older fencers.

Summer National Championship - Miami-Beach, Florida

June 29-July 5, 2007

We are back from the Summer Nationals! Royal Arts Fencers perfomed their Best ever!

There were 3000 fencers from all over the US competing in Miami - Beach, Florida. Each event had from 100 to 200 fencers. Three of our fencers finished in the top twenties in their events! All our Royal Arts National Competitors performed amazinly, demonstrating great willpower, strong personality, self-control and showed a solid national level competitive fencing skill. It was the first National Championship competition for most of our fencers. They faced fencers who have competed at the National level for several years and some of oponents were also fencing at the highest senior level at the Nationals! The competition demonstated the great talant and potential of our fencers!

I would like to congratulate everyone, and I am very proud of our fencer's achievements!

Also, I would like to thank coach Sergey and all parents for working and helping with our competitors during long and very intence 8 days in the Miami-Beach Convention Center!

I am looking forward to our 2007-2008 fencing season. I anticipate many medals and personal achievements!

Qynn Cook (10y.o.) 29th place in Youth 10 women's foil -

it was Qynn's first Natonal Championship and also her first competitive fencing season - Very powerfull start Qynn!

Qynn also competed in Y12 women's foil and finished 52nd out of 100 fencers.

Taylor McIntyre(12y.o.) 27th place in Y12 women's foil -

Taylor's best performance at the National Championships!

Taylor also competed in Y14women's foil and finished 51st out of 107 fencers.Your fencing was impressive Taylor!

Michael Saari(10y.o.) 27th place in Y10 men's foil -

it was Michael's first National Championship!

Justin Herman(8y.o.) Y10 men's foil - 62nd place-

it was Justin's first National Championship! Justin was the youngest fencer in the competition! You have many National Championships to look forward to, Justin!

Frank Ditullio(9y.o.) Y10 men's foil - 98th place-

it was Frank's first National Championship and also first competitive fencing season - Great start Frank!

Aaron Hutchison(12y.o.)Y 12 men's foil - 93rd place-

it was Aaron's first National Championship and also first competitive fencing season - Great start Aaron! Aaron also competed in Y14 men's foil event.

Faith Masterson(13y.o.)Y14 women's foil - 73rd place-

it was Faith's first National Championship!

Faith also competed in Y14 women's epee event - it was second epee tournament in Faith's fencing career! Ad work to your talant and you win it all Faith!

William Hunsucker (13y.o.)Y14 men's foil - 87th place.

William won most of his bouts in two rounds and was one touche away from going higher. Let's work on that touche Will!

Max Foley (13y.o.)Y12 men's epee - 83rd place.

It was Max's first National Championship and the largest event he ever competed! Great start Max!

Alex Gavrilov(12y.o.) men's epee - 91st place.

It was Alex's first National Championship and the largest event he ever competed! You've tried it - now let's win it Alex!

Regional Youth Circuit - Detroit, Michigan

March 17th

Qynn Cook and Aaron Hutchison brought Bronze medals from Michigan youth circuit , where over 50 fencers from all Great Lakes states were competing last saturday. Royal Arts fencers: Qynn Cook, Aaron Hutchison and Frank Ditullio fenced. Frank Ditullio finished 5th in the Y10 foil - it was his first out-of-state tournament!

March 17th

Taylor McIntyre brought a Bronze medal for the Y12 Women's foil event, finished 9th in the Y14 Women's foil event and earned a National Stand points at the Super Youth Circuit events - with fencers from all states represented .

Arnold Fencing Classic 2007 was a great successfull event for the Royal Arts fencers! Royal Arts was represented by 18 fencers competed in different events of the Arnold Fencing Classic 2007(AFC -07).

Winter Challenge Team Tournament

Winter Challenge Team Tournament was a very successful event! We had 20 teams -from Pittsburg, Dayton, Cleveland, North of Ohio and from all clubs of Central Ohio - competed in all three weapons and in two age categories. This great youth event was announced and shown on the 10TV News Channel! Official Mascot Leo of the Royal Arts Fenicng Academy was present at this event!

December 3rd - Junior Olympic Qualifier

Royal Arts Fencing Academy was represented by Mac Fiske - epee, Joe Kelley - foil, Patrick McGregor - foil and Christopher Steiner - foil

All four men showed the best sides of their highly competitive athletic personalities and an incredible fencing skill!

Congratulation to Christopher Steiner who Won JO Qualifier in Men's foil U-17 and under! Christopher will be representing the Royal Arts Fencing Academy and a Columbus Division at the Junior Olympics that will be held on February 17-19 in Acford, CT. Good Luck at JOs to Christopher!

Joe Kelley fenced amazing at this tournament. He won most of bouts in pools and crashed his opponent 15:1 in his first DE. Joe and Christopher have met each other too soon in DEs. Both were the strongest fencers on the floor that day. Joe lost his DE bout when time ran out at the score 12:14.

Mac Fiske was the youngest fencer at his tournament and yet, he showed an outstanding fencing! He won 2 bouts in pools and lost DE bout to the top seeded fencer. Mac had a great experience to fence with very strong opponents and saw at what level he will need to be fencing by next JO qualifier!

It was the very first competition for Patrick McGregor! His fencing career is only few weeks old. Patrick openned his fencing day by winning his first bout 5:1! He came very close in his DE but lost it by missing last two touches. It was a pretty strong start of a New fencing season for Patrick!

December 4th. Regional Youth Cirquit.

Royal Arts Fencing Academy was represented by Faith Masterson, Taylor McIntyre, Max and Robbie Foley at this youth tournament. Faith, Taylor and Robbie has qualified to compete at the Summer Nationals. Royal Arts fencers brought three medals from this Regional Youth event!

October 22, 2005 - Youth Games

Last Saturday, October 22nd Royal Arts Fencing Academy hosted a very successful tournament where fencers competed in all Youth age categories in foil and epee. We had some fencers even came all the way from Illinois state and North of Ohio. There were hundreds of viewers watching our youth fencing at the Easton Town Center! Our participant's ages were from 6 years old to 16 years old. We also had an amaizing staff of officials,coaches and volunteers at this tournament!

Our special thanks to our officials: Patricia Szelle, Cindy Bent, Gianvi Figari (officiated all final bouts at the Easton mall!), Danny Barua, John Wallace, Scott Tullener;to an amazing coaches Elasayed Emara from Peoria FA and Walt Dragonetti from Hooked on fencing club and a volunteer-parent Diane Masterson for their great help at running this tournament!

It was our honor to host event that was greatly attended by fencers from Peoria FA (Illinois), Hooked of Fencing Club (North Royalton, OH),FAO (Columbus, Ohio), Rogue (Hudson, OH) and many of our Royal Arts Fencers!

September 10, 2005 - Royal Arts Open/Youth tournament

Royal Arts held a Tournament where all of your generous donations and income from event were donated to the hurricane Katrina victims fund. We would like to Thank all fencers who participated in this tournament. Our special Thanks to those who greatfully donated their services and helped in organizing and running this event:

August 8-12, 2005 - RAFA Summer Fencing Camp

This RAFA Fencing Camp of Summer 2005 - has been a great sport experience for our youth fencers!

Summer Fencing Camp was held in two sessions - one in June and one session in August. Each session included a lot of fencing practice, private lessons, different fencing drills, fitness conditioning sessions, fencing video analysis, many games and fun activities! Competitions for all youth categories were held in the end of each camp session.

May 28 - Royal Arts Spring Open/Youth 2005

Fencing Season of 2004 - 2005 got closed with this event today. It was remarkable performance of our youth fencers!

Taylor McIntyre won Gold Trophies in both Y-10 and Y12 categories and she also took bronze medal in Y-14 Foil Event! Taylor represented our club in the most youth events of this fencing year - and she brought medals from every one of them, including AFC 2005!

For the outstanding fencing and dedication to the sport Taylor McIntyre 've got nominated "Royal Fencer 2005" title. She recieved a special award at the Ceremony of Awards that was held in August 13th at the Gym of the Columbus Jewish Day School (CJDS)

Royal Arts held two fencing camps this year: First Camp was held on June 13-17 and second Camp - on August 8-12 in the CJDS
